SPArk

Autonomous spa units for wellness festivals and conferences, as permanent or non-permanent constructions. Each unit consists of four reclaimed cargo containers two of 20ft and two of 40ft, stacked and secured on ground with as minimum disturbance to the environment as possible. Preferably located close to nature, parks and ports to incorporate outdoor sports and activities, in regard to the occasion and the environment.

Research, Concept, Design
The installation allows fast assembly, disassembly in case of non-permanent structure, and transportation. It could facilitate stairs, slides, and/or an elevator for people with special needs.
Each unit could service ten to fifteen people/hour, and it accommodates heating pool, infrared sauna, massage grotto, auxiliary spaces i.e. lockers with changing spaces, showers with WC (compostable toilet), and a basic roof café.
Wherever possible reclaimed materials are preferred. Spruce plywood and spruce wood are suggested for the wood finishings and floor. Birch wood or tiles could be used at the shower/ WC, whereas the wood decking could be from recycled bamboo.
The main electricity needs (lighting, heating/ cooling) are covered by flexible PVs on the roof-shed, along with a portable biofuel generator. Heating and cooling are accomplished through a packaged HVAC system. Moreover, rainwater is collected to a harvesting tank, while greywater from showers and sinks is collected in another tank, both treated and reused for cleaning purposes. Harvesting, treatment and filtration takes place in a fifth separate 20ft container in different departments with the appropriate tanks and equipment. Precast foundation footings or concrete blocks (or even pour-in place molds) are proposed for the safety of the installation, depending on the ground.
